In today’s newsletter, Barings announced on Thursday that Ian Mayhew has been appointed to lead real estate asset management in Europe. Mayhew assumes the position effective immediately and will take over the role vacated by James Salmon, who has retired after 20 years with Barings.

Mayhew will lead a team of 20 asset management specialists across Europe. The team’s key emphasis will be prioritizing social and environmental sustainability and a proactive and customer-focused approach to asset management.

Ian Mayhew, Managing Director and Head of Real Estate Equity Asset Management – Europe at Barings, said: “As a global platform with on-the-ground expertise in each of our preferred markets, Barings has an excellent track record of delivering against business plans and adding value on behalf of our investors. In this new role, my focus is developing our already strong asset management capabilities, ensuring consistency of process and standards to deliver best-in-class products across asset classes, particularly in our favoured sectors of logistics, offices, and residential.”

Also, in other news, Energy and Infrastructure Moves has learned that Staffan Unge (pictured below) has been appointed Head of Nordics at Hines Europe.

Lars Huber, CEO of Hines Europe said: “I am delighted to welcome Staffan to Hines at such an important stage in our growth in the Nordics and in Europe more widely. We look forward to working closely with him as we continue to grow our presence in the region and build on our recent entry into the Swedish market.”

Staffan Unge, Head of the Nordics, Hines, said: “Hines has established a reputation in the Nordics as a leading global investor with a truly local approach. As an investor with development in its DNA, Hines is perfectly placed to help provide quality real estate across all sectors here in the Nordics, delivering value to our investors as well as our occupiers. I am excited to join the team and for us to grow the business across all Nordic countries in the coming years.”
